Annual flying star chart

Nine stars occupy the nine sectors of a home, and the arrangement changes once a year. This draws the chart for any year. It is the same chart for every building on earth — the annual chart needs nothing from you but the year.

How to use this tool
What you need
A year, and a rough sense of which way your home faces.
How to use it
  1. Pick the year. The chart changes at the start of spring, not on 1 January.
  2. Stand in the middle of your home with a compass and work out which ninth of the floor plan is which direction.
  3. Find the 5 Yellow sector and plan no construction there this year.
  4. Find the 8 White sector and use that room.

The 2026 chart runs from 4 February 2026 at 04:02 (UTC+8) — the start of spring — to the same point in 2027. Not 1 January, and not Chinese New Year. Why that date moves.

The nine stars

1 White 一白 Water Relationships, networks, career Fine for a front door, a bedroom or a study.
2 Black 二黑 Earth Illness Keep it quiet. Do not put someone already unwell to sleep here. Metal weakens earth, so a brass object is the traditional remedy — but stillness does more than the object.
3 Jade 三碧 Wood Disputes, litigation Keep it quiet. The traditional remedy is something red, or a lamp left on.
4 Green 四綠 Wood Study, writing, reputation A good sector for a desk or a child doing schoolwork.
5 Yellow 五黃 Earth Accident, serious illness, loss Do not break ground here this year — no renovation, drilling, digging or demolition. This is the one instruction in the practice with real teeth, and following it costs nothing.
6 White 六白 Metal Windfall, authority, mentors Fine for a front door, a living room or a study.
7 Red 七赤 Metal Theft, gossip, surgery Keep it quiet. Water-grown plants or something black is the traditional remedy.
8 White 八白 Earth Steady wealth, property The best sector of the year. Use the room, light it, spend time in it.
9 Purple 九紫 Fire Celebration, marriage, reputation Good for a living room, a bedroom or anywhere you gather.

How this fits with the rest of the site

Three layers, in this order. The layout comes first — the site, the shape of the home, which way the front door faces. That is the frame, and it does not change. The annual stars come second: this page. Think of it as the forecast — it moves every year and tells you what to leave alone right now. Your Kua number comes third, as the personal fit: the same home suits two people differently, and that is what the Kua number calculator works out.

A layout problem is not fixed by a good year, and a good Kua direction does not make it safe to drill into the 5 Yellow. Each layer answers a different question. What we compute, and what we do not.

What this chart is not

This is the annual chart. There is a second, much bigger thing also called Flying Star — the natal chart of a building, which needs the year the building was completed and its facing on a 24-direction compass. We do not compute that, here or anywhere on the site, because we do not ask for either input. The annual chart needs neither: it is the same nine numbers in the same nine places for every home in the world for a given year.
